Assist the Director of Accounting with the daily operations of the Accounting Department and the financial reporting for both Midland College and Midland College Foundation, Inc.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of nine college credit hours in Accounting
Minimum of two years of accounting experience
Proficient in Excel, Word, and a working knowledge of large-scale computerized accounting/information systems
Competent in accounting and use of accounting systems

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or closely related field
Knowledge of Governmental Accounting for Colleges (GASB 34/35) and Accounting for Not-For-Profit organizations (FASB 116/117) and fund accounting principals
Public accounting and/or governmental accounting or auditing experience

Essential Functions
Assist the Director of Accounting with the following:
The financial operations of the accounting department, including recording of journal entries, reconciliations, special projects, and the preparation of financial statements
The financial accounting of an affiliated, not-for-profit foundation, including recording of journal entries when needed and the preparation of financial statements
Monitoring, tracking, and troubleshooting scholarship transactions for Midland College and the Midland College Foundation
Preparation of the year-end closing process for Midland College and the Midland College Foundation, including preparation of auditor schedules (PBCs)
Balancing the fixed assets and non-capital inventoried items and reconciling differences
Other duties as assigned
